Last night for Family Home Evening I prepared a lesson on the Holy Ghost. Sadly, we haven't talked about this much with Mackay in the past, so here is how the lesson went:
Me: The Holy Ghost can make you feel better when you are sad or hurt.
Mackay: The Holy Ghost bit my elbow and I said "Owww!"
Nate: The Holy Ghost can comfort you like a big, warm blanket.
Mackay: The Holy Ghost doesn't get to sit on the blanket.
This went on the whole lesson with Mackay just missing the point. Unfortunately, she knows what a ghost and monster is, so she can't wrap her head around the idea of the Holy Ghost. Maybe we should use the word "Spirit".

Giggle, giggle, chuckle, grin, and laugh, laugh, laugh! What humorous and eye-opening experiences FHE can be when cute little people are involved. Hang in there; you're doing it just right! As Elder Bednar said in conference, "Sometimes Sister Bednar and I wondered if our efforts to do these spiritually essential things were worthwhile...At times [we] were exasperated because the righteous habits we worked so hard to foster did not seem to yield immediately the spiritual results we wanted and expected... Each family prayer, each episode of family scripture study, and each family home evening is a brush stroke on the canvas of our souls. No one event may appear to be very impressive or memorable. But just as the yellow and gold and brown strokes of paint complement each other and produce an impressive masterpiece, so our consistency in doing seemingly small things can lead to significant spiritual results."

She is so cute. You guys are so good to do family home evening. We haven't started yet. Tim is just gone ALL the time!
Hilarious Kalli! Out of the mouths of babes! I was so glad they didn't use an exact translation for Holy Ghost on my mission in France/Belgium. If so, we would have been referring to the holy phantom all the time. We just stuck with the Holy Spirit. Much better! :)
