Day at the Fair

We went to the fair with my family because my dad hadn't been to the Idaho State Fair since he was younger. The whole reason in going was to get a hamburger. So, we all paid a $5 entrance fee, and then bought a $5.50 hamburger--hardly worth it. But then again, we did get to walk around a lot and look at smelly animals, too.

Here our little genius found some make-shift handles. We are so proud of her.

Okay, this was worth the money. An 859.5 lb. pumpkin!? Mackay thinks it's pretty cool, too.

Since this is the only part of the animals that I got to see, you get to see the cool birds, too.

Sunday Walk

When my family was up over Labor Day weekend, we went on a nice Sunday walk around BYU-Idaho campus. Of course, the favorite spot was the new astro-turf football field. Here Chad had a heyday taking pictures of cute Mackay.

On our walk home we saw this mailbox. I used to walk past it all the time, and thought it was so funny every time, though Nate never seemed to think so. Finally my family came up and there was someone to share the joy with.

This is us in the Gardens. When I was putting pictures together for our wedding, the only picture I could find of me and my mom together was us with our mouths open wide standing under a stuffed bear. So here is something maybe a little better.

Woohoo! We did it!

For Labor Day weekend we took a little vacation down to Pocatello to run a half marathon (13.1 miles). We got these cool microfiber shirts, a duffle bag, and, of course, a sack of potatoes. These are the before pictures:This is my running partner, Christine.

Luckily my family came to watch Mackay while we ran the race--and afterward when we weren't very mobile. This is what my family was doing for a few hours before they came to cheer us on at the end of the race--just taking pictures of Mackay.

Nate ran the whole thing without even walking! He finished the race in just under 2 hours.

Then here is everybody waiting for me. They only had to wait around for 45 extra minutes.

And here I am crossing the finish line. The picture doesn't even do justice at how awful I felt afterwards. My time was 2:44, and to think that I want to do this again?

Luckily the runners got free food and dinks, so after a while of aided walking and trying to eat something, I could put a smile on my face.

It felt so nice going back to the hotel and slipping into the pool. Mackay was a little anxious about this large body of water. Uncle Chad was there to help her out.

She probably just didn't like having a huge diaper.

One month older and funner, too

This is at our last camping trip. Mackay seems to sleep better in a tent camping than she does at home. Interesting. Too bad her parents don't. Mackay is sporting a lovely top that her mother so graciously made for her. In combination is the camo pants that Grandma Barker gave her. Nate insisted that she had to wear them camping, I just didn't want to get them dirty!
This is what Mackay does when I try to work with her awake. Just load her up with toys and a plug, and we're good to go. Another reason why we bought these couches.
We've been having a difficult time trying to get Mackay to go to sleep--until Nate came up with this really great idea.
(Don't worry, it's just barbecue sauce.)

And then, my photo shoot. I guess I won't quit my day job.

This outfit has gotten Mackay more compliments than any other baby in the ward. Thank you Sister Ostermiller! This is a look into the future--Mackay with hair! And, I knew it! There would be another funny sight when I went to get Mackay out of bed. This time, it's two feet sticking out of her crib. I came home the other day after a baby shower--only leaving Nate and Mackay alone for one hour! And I came home to a daughter who has decided to become a punk rocker, with a pink Mohawk. Don't worry, it washed out.
